Editor:

We have the choice when we walk in the voting booth next week to stop thinking about which party we belong to, what entitlements we might receive and ask ourselves these questions: Am I a Christian? Do I believe the Bible? If the answer is “yes” then VOTE THE BIBLE! Ask yourself the following: Who stands for the homosexual lifestyle? The Word of God clearly stands against this lifestyle. Leviticus 18:22, “You shall not lie with a male as you lie with a female; it’s an abomination.” Who stands against Israel? Don’t vote for them! God clearly stands with Israel and blesses all who take that position. (Genesis 12:3) Who stands against religious freedom? At this moment, our Catholic friends have filed major lawsuits from every part of the nation trying to secure religious freedom. We should stand with them because religious freedom is a constitutional guarantee! Who is pro-abortion? Don’t vote for them! The Bible is very pro-life. Jesus said, “I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly. “The Lord called me before my birth. From within the womb he called me by my name...He said to me, `You are my servant’...” (Isaiah 49:1,3); “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13). I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Jeremiah 1:5 Proverbs 6 states, “God hates hands that shed innocent blood.” There is no blood more innocent than that of an infant in the womb of its mother. Voting the Bible is not rocket science! Vote according to the Word of God and vote the Bible when we enter the voting booth. God wants us to live our lives according to what God says, not according to what the world says. Christ said in John 15:18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.”

May God help all of as we seek to make the right choices!

Today this discussion is moot. The man you love to hate has been re-elcted. Four years ago Rev. Wright's "GD America" speech was widely publicized for being anti-American, but you failed to see or read that Rev. Wright was using the Bible as his foundation. Maybe I agree because my latino family was discriminated against and treated as second-class citizens (still are in many parts of this country). IF our country's past sins cannot be discussed, then we will never learn, and we will never grow as a free society. The following are Rev. Wright's words:

“When it came to putting the citizens of African descent fairly, America failed. She put them in chains. The government put them on slave quarters. Put them on auction blocks. Put them in cotton fields. Put them in inferior schools. Put them in substandard housing. Put them scientific experiments. Put them in the lower paying jobs. Put them outside the equal protection of the law. Kept them out of their racist bastions of higher education, and locked them into positions of hopelessness and helplessness."

“The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three strike law and then wants us to sing God Bless America. Naw, naw, naw. Not God Bless America. "G--D---" America! That’s in the Bible. For killing innocent people. G-- D---America for treating us citizens as less than human. G--D--- America as long as she tries to act like she is God and she is Supreme."

“The United States government has failed the vast majority of her citizens of African descent. Think about this. Think about this. For every one Oprah, a billionaire, you’ve got 5 million blacks that are out of work. For every one Colin Powell, a millionaire, you’ve got 10 million blacks who cannot read. For every one Condi-Skeezer Rice, you’ve got 1 million in prison. For every one Tiger Woods, who needs to get beat at the Masters, with his Cablanasian hips, playing on a course that discriminates against women, God has this way of brining you up short when you get to big for your Cablanasian britches. For every one Tiger Woods, we’ve got 10,000 black kids who will never see a golf course. The United States government has failed the vast majority of her citizens of African descent.”

“Tell your neighbor he’s (going to) help us one last time. Turn back and say forgive him for the G-- D---, that’s in the Bible though. Blessings and curses is in the Bible. It’s in the Bible.

"Where government fail, God never fails. When God says it, it’s done. God never fails. When God wills it, you better get out the way, cause God never fails. When God fixes it, oh believe me it’s fixed. God never fails. Somebody right now, you think you can’t make it, but I want you to know that you are more than a conqueror through Christ. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.”

In that case, I certainly don't want to vote for the candidate whose word is "The Book of Mormon" which was first published by Joseph Smith in 1830. According to Smith's account, and also according to the book's narrative, the Book of Mormon was originally written in otherwise unknown characters referred to as "reformed Egyptian" engraved on golden plates. Smith claimed that the last prophet to contribute to the book, a man named Moroni, buried it in a hill in present-day New York and then returned to earth in 1827 as an angel, revealing the location of the book to Smith.

If you want to vote to support what most mainstream Christian denominations consider to be a cult, then cast your ballot for Bishop Willard.

May God help all of as we seek to make the right choices!

LadyTexan,

I'm voting for the presidential candidate, not his pastor.

Bishop Willard has been significantly influenced by Mormon ideology all of his life as indicated by his religious title. However, you are sorely mistaken to believe that he is a Christian by a religious title.

His views are inconsistent and at one time he was pro-choice on abortion rights. Source: http://www.salon.com/2011/08/08/mitt_romney_abortion_ann_keenan/singleton/

For Bishop Willard supporters, caveat emptor. His primary business skill is hunting through the tax codes of various countries throughout the world to determine which shelters and loopholes to use to avoid paying taxes. That doesn't translate to having the experience necessary to do the job as president.

I'll vote for the man that has proven leaderships skills and go with President Obama and as many Democrats as possible to support the Democratic platform.

Vote the wrong choice and someday soon we will be telling our children what it was like to be free.
