Zamzow qualifies for national track and field meet

Goliad’s Ashtin Zamzow, 16, won the heptathlon at the Region 12 USA Track and Field Meet held in Humble on July 4-5.

Zamzow had a score of 4,709 points, which was her personal best by over 150 points.

The heptathlon is a two-day event that includes the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 dash the first day and the long jump, javelin throw and 800 run on tghe second day.

Zamzow will be representing Region 12 at the USA National Meet in Greensboro, N.C., on July 22-23 in the heptathlon and the open javelin throw on July 28. She qualified in the open javelin, placing third with a throw of 113 feet.
