The Kenedy Lion baseball team became area champions on Saturday when they defeated the Charlotte Trojans. The Lions had no trouble in the opening game on Friday night winning 8-1. On Saturday the Lions played up to their motto “KFND”- “Kenedy Fight Never Dies”. The score was tied going into the seventh inning 1-1 and the Lions would score three runs in the top to go ahead 4-1 and would hold off a late charge by the Trojans to win 4-2 in the hard fought battle . The Lions will now face Mason in the regional quarterfinal on Friday, May 18, in Hondo. They will play one game at 7:30 p.m. with the winner moving on the regional semifinal.
