Signs in a local yard show that like many other parts of South Texas, Karnes County residents find themsleves caught in the grips of “Spurs Fever” as the San Antonio Spurs continue to compete against the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals for all the marbles. As of June 17, the best of 7 series stood at 3-2 with the Spurs leading and getting an opportunity to win it all in Miami on June 18.

Benjamin Johnson received his fourth Pagasus Award Sunday, May 19 at a ceremony held at the Hermann Sons Grand Lodge in San Antonio. He attends Steubing Ranch Elementary School. His parent are Laura Johnson of Karnes City and Douglas Johnson of San Antonio. His grandparents are Jim and Julie Weiss of Karnes City.
