On Dec. 19th, the Bulldogs traveled to Kenedy to take on the Lions. The Bulldogs fought hard and actually trailed for a short while in the third until turning up the defense and pulling away in the end 42-36. Preston Pennington and Logan Muniz led all scorers with 10 points a piece. John Morgan Ross and Garret Luthringer chipped in seven points, Travis Escamilla five, Ian Smith two, and Trevor Wells one.
On the Dec. 22nd, the Bulldogs traveled to Odem to take on the Owls. The Owls got off to a quick start to take an 11-8 first quarter lead. In the second, the Bulldogs Preston Pennington got things going scoring eight of his game high 16 points to kick start the Bulldog offense. The Bulldogs would take the lead into the half, 24-19. In the third, the Owls tightened up the defense as the Dawgs turned the ball over several times before settling down. The Owls would take the lead going into the fourth, 33-28. In the fourth, the Owls hit several big shots and the Dawgs scrapped for every possession, but the third quarter woes were too much for the Dawgs to overcome as the Owls came away with the victory 43-40.
The Bulldogs are 7-6 on the season and are set to start district play on Jan. 2 against the Dilley Wolves. The JV boys will tip off at 5 p.m. The Varsity Bulldogs are scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip off.
