Mr. Vicente G. Chapa passed away on January 17, 2011, at the age of 88. Vicente was born on April 5, 1922, in Beeville, Texas, to the late Jose Chapa and Porfiria Garcia.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Reymundo and Benjamin Alcala and Baldemar Chapa; and his sister, Ernestina Chapa; and his loving wife, Maria Sustaita Chapa (marriage of 59 wonderful years).

Vicente enjoyed cooking, spending quality time with his loving family and his God-given grandchildren and working on his tractor were some of the things that he enjoyed in life.

He is survived by one son, Fernando Chapa (Anna) of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Gilbert Chapa of Oklahoma and Eustacio Chapa of Victoria, Texas; one sister, Isabel Longoria of Corpus Christi, Texas; two grandchildren, Mario and Clarissa Chapa of Houston, Texas.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 20, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. with a rosary held that evening at 7:00 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass was celebrated on Friday, January 21, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Pasala officiating. Burial followed at the Beeville Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Arnold Hernandez, Armando Gonzales, Javier Perez, Alfredo Maldonado, Tomas Perez and Greg Valdez.
