Playing some tough competition and all 5A teams, the Lady Trojans won one and took a few lumps in their weekend tourney in New Braunfels.

The play began on Thursday night with the Lady Trojans on the field against the San Antonio Clark Lady Cougars. The Lady Trojans got a first half goal from Heather McKinney and then put two more goals on the scoreboard in the second half.

Alisa Patterson took a bounce off an opponent defender deep in the box and put it past the Cougar keeper for a 2-0 Beeville lead.

The third Lady Trojan score came from Heather McKinney as she dribbled past two defenders and the keeper for an easy goal and a 3-0 victory.

“The girls definitely played better last night than any game thus far and seem to be working better as a unit,” said head coach Amber Orchard.

The Beeville girls were up against the MacArthur Lady Brahmas on Friday night and the tough opponents were too much to handle. The score was 7-0 at the half but the Lady Trojans fought hard on defense in the second half to limit the smooth running Lady Brahmas to just one more goal in a 8-0 loss.

The final match of the tournament was against the host New Braunfels Lady Unicorns.

The teams were all even through the first 60 minutes of the game and maybe even longer. The Unicorns pushed one last goal past the Beeville keeper to secure a hard-fought 3-2 victory on Saturday.

The Lady Trojans won only once in the tournament but gained a lot of experience against three very good soccer teams, according to Orchard.

The Lady Trojans traveled to Victoria on Monday night to tangle with the West Warriors. The Beeville girls will compete in the CCISD tournament this weekend.
