The Beeville girls jumped in front by eight by capturing the first period 15-7 over the Warriors. The two teams each scored eight markers in the second quarter to make it a 23-15 contest at the half with the Lady Trojans still in control.
The Warriors began their comeback with a good third period, 15-9, over the Beeville girls to close the gap to within two, 32-30, at the end of three periods.
Victoria edged the Lady Trojans 10-8 over the final period with the Lady Trojans forcing overtime on a Tif’ni Puebla free throw as time was winding down. It was a tie game at 40-40 at the end of regulation.
The Lady Trojans broke fast in the OT period and smothered the Warriors 14-3 to emerge with a 54-43 victory.
“It was intense, but we pushed ourselves to win the game. What a sweet victory,” said JV coach Gracy Bryce.
Krystal Cuellar led the Beeville scoring with 13 points. Brianna Jackson was also in double figures with 10 points. Cheyenne Del Bosque followed with nine tallies while Zehila Frias and Noemi Lopez both added eight in the win. Adriana Baltazar contributed four points while Rochelle Hardiway and Puebla each scored one point.
The Lady Trojan JV was back in Victoria on Friday night to take on the Victoria East Lady Titans. The Beeville girls will be back in town on Tuesday night to meet the Floresville Jags.
