Florence “Tookie” Deutz Marshall, born January 27, 1928, in San Antonio, Texas, died on February 4, 2011.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Thomas Warren Marshall; her parents, Henry and Helen Deutz; and her sister, Virginia “Jeannie” Swope.

She is survived by her four children, Kathleen (David) Caylor of Victoria, TX, Thomas W. (Sue) Marshall, Jr. of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Karen (Larry) LaVergne, DVM of New Braunfels, TX and Karla Wilburn of Corpus Christi, TX; seven grandchildren – Ashley (Wes) Cheslak; Amanda (Jake) Comstock; Thomas Hunter Marshall; Thomas J. Wilburn; Amber Wagenaar; Lauren LaVergne and Lana LaVergne and three great-grandchildren – Hannah, Brooke and Katie Comstock.

Tookie graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, Texas, and she attended Trinity University where she studied Art and Spanish. She married Thomas W. Marshall on June 12, 1948. She served as President of the Coppini Art Society, San Antonio, TX; President of the Beeville Art Society; member of the Junior League of Corpus Christi; Secretary of Driscoll Children’s Hospital Auxiliary; member of the Corpus Christi Art Museum. She was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, Beeville, TX, and The Church of the Good Shepherd, Corpus Christi, TX.

A memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 14, 2011, at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 700 S. Upper Broadway, Corpus Christi, TX.
