4-H offers so many projects besides just livestock (pigs, beef, goats, etc.). You can look at projects in Food & Nutrition, Clothing & Textiles, Leadership or anything else you might beinterested in.

The 4-H Club meetings for Karnes County are listed as follows: Falls City 4-H, 1st Sunday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Falls City School Cafeteria. Karnes City 4-H Club, 3rd Sunday of the month at 5:00 p.m. at the Karnes County Show Barn. Kenedy 4-H Club, 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:15 p.m. at the Kenedy Fire Station. Lonesome Dove 4-H, 1st Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Karnes City Junior High School Library. Panna Maria 4-H, 1st Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Panna Maria Snoga Store. Runge 4-H Club, 2nd Sunday of the month at 3:00 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

4-H HAS TALENT!
The Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Texas
4-H Roundup “4-H Has Talent Competition.” This exciting new event will give youth the opportunity to showcase their talents on the “big stage” at the June 9th Assembly at Texas 4-H Roundup. The 2011 4-H Has Talent Competition is another way the Texas 4-H Program is continuing to encourage youth to explore the arts as well as showcase the young talent the great state of Texas has to offer. Please pass this information to all of your 4-Hers so the 2nd Annual 4-H Has Talent Competition will be a huge success!
DISTRICT ROUND UP & FASHION SHOW
The District 11 fashion show will be April 16th in Victoria, Texas at the Victoria Mall. Entries are due to Meredith by March 7th. Call Meredith at the extension office so she can help you get registered.
District Round up will be April 9 in Brenham this year. If you are interested in doing an educational presentation or showing us your vocals, please let me know!
There is a ton of stuff you can do and possibly earn the chance to attend state round up in June!
DISTRICT PHOTOGRAPHY
District Photography will be judged March 31, 2011 in Victoria. If you are interested I need your photos by March 21. This year’s categories include people, animals/wildlife, animals (domestic), marine/aquatic, elements of design, Nature & Landscape, Plant/Flora, Details & Macro, Digital Darkroom, Clover Theme, Night Photography, Food, Dominant Color, and a Miscellaneous group. We have the photo board at the Extension office, so just come by and get it!
I would like to have at least 20 entries this year! If you submitted a photo for the youth show, submit it for the 4-H contest and a chance to go to state.

The Paper Clover Campaign will run in month April. Please visit your local Tractor Supply Store. Karnes County 4-H benefits from every campaign.

Majority of them need to have a FAFSA completed. You can complete the FAFSA once your 2010 taxes have been filed. Please make sure you take care of this important step so you can receive some FREE money!

The Karnes County 4-H has ordered 4-H Karnes County T-shirts. 4-H’ers if you would like to purchase one come by the County Extension Office. They are great.
KARNES COUNTY 4-H RECYCLING PROJECT
Karnes County 4-H is sponsoring a “Recycling Project” collecting inkjet cartridges, toner cartridges and cell phones! The 4-H clubs are working with local businesses to collect used inkjet and toner cartridges to keep them out of landfills. We are working with a National
Recycling Company to ship all the used cartridges to them so that they can be refilled and used again. If a 4-H’er contacts you about collecting your used ink jet cartridges, toner cartridges or cell phones, please get all the details. For more information, contact the Extension Office - 780-3906.
