The varsity boys got second place points from long-distance man Silvestre Sanchez in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:30. In the metric mile, or 1,600 meters, Sanchez garnered first place points by covering the distance in 5:13.
Casey Jones placed second in the 100-meter dash with a quick time of 11.9. Joe Benavides was sixth in the event at 12.52 and Sheldon Maurer came across the finish line in 13.51.
Jones was also second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.0. John Constante ran to a fourth place spot in 61.0. In the 200-meter dash, Eagle Joe Benavidez placed second in 24.9 with Constante fifth in 26.4. Maurer was sixth in the event in 28.37. The 4x400-meter relay team of Silvestre, Benavides, Jones and Constante finished first at the meet with a fast 3:53 time.
Jones also captured first place points for the Eagles in the long jump and triple jump. Jones cleared 16-7 in the long jump and went 36-2 in the triple jump event. Constante was second in both events with a leap of 16-1 and a hop, skip and jump of 34-7.
In the varsity girls’ competition, Lady Eagle Madi Garza placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:49 with Bethany Amador placing fourth in 3:08. Chloe Garza was first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.41. Tristian Moore was fifth in the dash with a time of 14.72.
The Lady Eagles’ speedy duo finished second (Garza) and third (Moore), respectively, in the 400-meter dash with times of 65.35 and 68.35.
In the 200-meter dash competition, Garza was second in the event at 28.09 with Moore running just out of the point race with a time of 31.8. In the metric mile, the 1,600-meter run, Lady Eagle Madi Garza was first in 6:52 and Amador was third with a time of 7:08.
In the field events, Chloe Garza captured a second place medal in the long jump with a leap of 15-6 1/2 while Moore finished her attempts at 11-0.
Chloe Garza was first in the triple jump, clearing 33-3 1/2, with Madi Garza placing fifth at 26-11 1/2. Moore was right behind her in sixth at 25-7.
Sean Leal participated in the JV boys’ 100- and 200-meter dashes for the Eagles.
The Pettus track teams will compete this Saturday in Three Rivers at the Bulldogs’ meet.
