Folks, I oft times hear that old friends are best.  That may or may not be true.  Perhaps we say that because we relish the memories of our youth.

When you reach my age there are not many of those old friends still alive.  Those that are, and I communicate with, I do hold dear.   However those so called new friends mean as much to me as any of the old friends did as we grew up together.

I guess what I am trying to say is that friends enter our lives at various times and we hold them dear regardless of what time that occurred.

I am a very fortunate man!  I have friends that I have had for over eighty years and I keep in contact with them e-mail and by phone.  Would you believe I have former students eighty years of age that I still hear from?  I hear from many others that are in their seventies.  What a blessing!  These friends are special to me!  Perhaps I love them in a different way than I do the friends I met in my later years. 

Friends regardless of when we touched each other’s lives; I love you!
