Christian Edward Nelson, 58, of Goliad died March 3, 2010. Christian was a lifelong resident of Goliad County, graduate of Goliad High School in 1969, and Southwest Texas University in 1974. He was a rancher and a retired Exxon-Mobil employee as well as a member of the Trailhead Cowboy Church, the NRA and of the Texas Cattleman Association. He married Susan Stephens on May 31, 1997, in Goliad. He is survived by his wife, Susan, and her children Alan McIntosh of Goliad, Angela and her husband Victor Espindola of Goliad and their children Dade McIntosh and Carson Espindola. Christian is also survived by adopted children Jason Javier Nelson, Benjamin Nelson, and Mariah Nelson, all of Goliad; sister Betty and husband Joe Thorton of Beeville as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Christian E. and Elisabeth Pettus Nelson, and sister Eda Beth McCawley. Visitation was held Sunday, March 7 at the Eckols Funeral Home in Kenedy. Memorial services were held on Monday, March 8 at the First Baptist Church in Goliad with Rev. David Parks, Rev. George Yarbrough, and Rev. Mike Whitfield officiating.
