Elvira C. Alaniz, 90, of Corpus Christi, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011.

Mrs. Alaniz was born on Sept. 9, 1920, in San Antonio. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish Altar Society and enjoyed oil painting, floral arranging and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, David J. Alaniz, of Beeville.

Survivors include four children, Linda A. Alaniz and Robert John (Maria-Lupe) Alaniz, both of Corpus Christi, David Raymond (Gail) Alaniz, Canton, Ga. and Carmen (David) Bazan of McAllen; and her sister, Helen Diaz of Salt Lake City, Utah; 13 grandchildren, Stephanie Celine Calderon, Sophia Maria Diaz, Patrick Zoblisein, Bethany Griffin, David A. Bazan, Christopher Dominic Bazan, Nicholas A. Bazan, Erica Lynn Russell, Robi Alaniz, Mark Douglas Ruth, Emily Ramos, Jessica Carrion and Geneva Elizarraraz; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing was held at Seaside Funeral Home on Friday, April 8, beginning at 5 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7 o’clock.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church Saturday, April 9, at 10 a.m. Interment followed at Seaside Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were David, Dominic and Nicholas Bazan, Robi Alaniz, Chris Russell and Mark Douglas Ruth.

Arrangements were under the direction of Seaside Funeral Home.
