4-H shooters to host 5th annual fishing tournament

The 4-H Shooting Club will host its annual fishing tournament on May 7 and maybe a couple of whoppers will be in your livewell by tournament’s end.

On Saturday, May 7, the Beeville Shooting Sports 4-H Club will hold its fifth annual bass fishing tournament at the Choke Canyon Calliham Unit.

Registration, check in and live well check will begin at 5 a.m. or when park opens and will end at 9 a.m. Weigh-in begins at 2 p.m. and anglers must be in line by 3 p.m. Cost for the tournament is $100 per team for pre-registration. Pre-registration will end on April 25. Late entry fee is $125 per team after April 25 and up until the day of the tournament. For those interested, there will also be an optional $10 fee per angler for the “big fish pot” that provides a 100 percent payback. With each entry, a delicious BBQ dinner is included. Prizes are 1st place-$2,000, second place-$1,000, 3rd place-$500, 4th place-$250 and 5th place-$125. Prize payouts are based on minimum of 75 teams entered.

Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Beeville Shooting Sports 4-H Club’s building fund to support the youth of Bee and surrounding counties and to further the cause of shooting sports and wildlife conservation in the state of Texas. There is no charge for club membership and support for the program is entirely from 4-H fund raising and with assistance from sponsors and donors.
