Chester Leroy Decoux died Friday, May 6, 2011. Mr. Decoux was born June 15, 1911, in Bay City, Texas, to Hattie Josephine (Brady) Decoux and Edmund Pierre Decoux. He worked for the Houston Oil Company, which became Atlantic Richfield, for 45 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Hattie Decoux; his wife, Evelyn Joyce (Cox) Decoux; and his sister, Mercedes (Decoux) Wessel.

Survivors include his daughter, Annette Washalaski of Beeville; three grandchildren, Diana Brand, Glenn Hinton and Cecile Hinton, all of San Diego, CA; six great-grandchildren, Jacob Hinton of Charleston, SC, Annette Kurtenbach of Scottsdale, AZ, Sydne Ortiz of San Diego, CA, and Claire Anne Brand, Cheston Brand and Caroline Brand, all of San Diego, CA; four great-great-grandchildren, Noah Hinton and Evelyn Hinton, both of Charleston, SC, Gracie Ortiz of San Diego, CA and Elizabeth Kurtenbach of Scottsdale, AZ; and numerous friends, admirers and acquaintances.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 14, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service began at 2 p.m. that afternoon. Interment followed at Glenwood Cemetery.
