“Any time you are part of a game like the one we played it is a learning experience. You learn a lot about the character of the team,” said Trojan head coach Jesse Baez.
“I am proud of the character that our kids displayed throughout the game. They played hard to the end and never let down in their effort on the court.”
The Bucs used a great outside game and a pretty good inside game quickly to jump in front of the Trojans 20-9 at the end of the first period. The rain of threes began in the first period with two falling through the nets for Miller.
That slight drizzle turned into a downpour in the second quarter as the Bucs hit five long-range jumpers and completed one old-fashioned three point play to start the second quarter. It was 48-26 at the end of the first half and Miller was on cruise control for the second half.
Four more long bombs fell for the Bucs in the third period and the visitors outscored the Trojans 20-16 in a pretty even quarter. The scoreboard had the Bucs out front 68-42.
The Miller Bucs hit for three more treys in the fourth and went on to an 89-54 victory. Miller ended the night with 14 three-pointers while the Trojans hit for three with Ysrael Barboza, Thomas Camacho and Jordan Gonzales all finding the bottom of the net from long range.
Jordan led the Trojans in scoring with 18 points. Camacho also landed in double figures with 11. Eric Soza added seven points in the loss while Barboza contributed six. Robby Horton managed five on the night with Matt Botello adding four. Vinney Garza hit for two points while Clayton Tindol made one free throw.
The Trojans played in Port Lavaca last night and will be at home on Tuesday night when the Rockport-Fulton Pirates visit Beeville. Games begin at 5 p.m. with the varsity boys scheduled to tip off at about 8 p.m.

I just learned Jordan was kicked off the basketball team ... will someone please tell me why? Did something happen during the game?
