Gilbert and Anita (Brown) Arredondo Sr. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 4, with family and friends. Rev. Carl Maurer officiated in the blessing of the marriage during the celebration, which was held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in San Antonio.

The couple, both originally from Beeville, moved to San Antonio following their wedding. They have two daughters, Betty (Roy) Landrum II of Poteet and Patricia (Gerald) Pocock of Hondo; two sons, Gilbert (Yolanda) Arredondo II of Poteet and Joe Richard Arredondo of San Antonio; two foster sons, Edward (Lynette) Robles of San Antonio and Roy (Eva) Martinez Jr. of Pleasanton; 12 grandchildren, Michael (Dolores) Drum, Kristopher and Kimberly Landrum, Gabriella, Esmeralda and Gilbert III Arredondo, Damon and Dre Arredondo, Liliana Robles, Johnny, Nancy and Raquel Martinez; and one great-granddaughter, Amanda Joe Drum.

A surprise dinner was hosted by their children at La Cabana Mexican Restaurant in San Antonio.

The couple were married on June 4, 1961, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Beeville.

Gilbert is the son of the late Felipe and Maria de Jesus (Paredez) Arredondo Jr., and Anita “Annie” is the daughter of the late Joe E. and Petra (Balladarez) Brown Sr., all of Beeville.
