Mr. Solis was born July 25, 1933, in Karnes City to Sofia (Rodriguez) and Tomas Solis. He married Maria Elva Baltazar in Beeville on Oct. 24, 1955, and was a truck driver for the City of Beeville for 35 years. He was a part-time mechanic, an avid jogger and weight lifter and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Tiburcia Padron and Ysabel Solis.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Elva Solis of Beeville; four children, Sophie Soliz, Maria (Philip) Pradt, Santiago (Rosa L.) Solis Jr. and Belinda (Randy) Aguirre, all of Beeville; five brothers, Vicente (Rafaela) Solis of Big Springs, Romulo (Melva) Solis, Lorenso (Maria Louisa) Solis and Crecencio (Antonia) Solis, all of Brownsville, and Leonel Solis of Monterrey, Mexico; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 7, from noon to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there in the evening at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers were John Thomas Soliz, Joseph Ray Soliz, Joel James Soliz, Joel Soliz, Randy Aguirre and Santiago Solis III.
Honorary pallbearers were Richard Baltazar, Ruben Baltazar, Guadalupe Chapa, Jose Guel and Mauricio Solis.
