“It was an honor to receive this award,” said Aliseda. “During this session there were many difficult votes. The legislature faced an unprecedented budget shortfall and there were those who wanted to raise taxes instead of making the hard decisions about spending cuts. However, I did what the votes in November told me to do, which was to balance the state budget with no new taxes.”
“As a freshman legislator faced with difficult decisions, Representative Aliseda showed composure and commitment to the principles of fiscal responsibility. Jose Aliseda was an unabashed advocate for Texas’ taxpayers in general and his constituents in specific,” said Michael Quinn Sullivan, President of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility.
Representative Aliseda will be presented the award at a ceremony in the Beeville County Courthouse on Sept. 9, at 12 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
Jose Aliseda is a first term representative from Beeville. House District 35 contains Atascosa, Bee, Goliad, Jim Wells, Karnes, Live Oak and McMullen Counties. Aliseda was elected 2011 Republican Freshman of the Year by the 82nd Legislature Republican Caucus and Freshman of the Year by the District and County Attorneys Association.
