Mickie Ochoa, one of the owners of Angel Care Ambulance Service, announced on Facebook over the weekend that her business would be collecting donations.
“We need non-perishable items,” Ochoa announced Tuesday. That would include canned goods, blankets, pillows, other bedding, clothing in all sizes, shoes in all sizes, diapers, wipes, cleaning supplies and toys.
Anyone who has something to donate is being asked to drop off the items at the Angel Care building, 1105 West Corpus Christi St.
Also, if anyone has something to donate but no way to get the items to the Angel Care building, a call to Ochoa at 542-9117 will bring a truck and volunteers to load it.
“A lot of those people have no savings and no insurance,” Ochoa said. And many of them lost everything they owned within just minutes.
“This is when we all have to work together to help others,” Ochoa said. “They would do the same for us.”
Angel Care volunteers expect to deliver the donations to officials in Bastrop sometime Friday evening. The staff at the business will accept donations until about 3 p.m. Friday.
