The best of five match was closely played the entire way. Scores of the sets were 23-25, 25-13, 25-12, 22-25 and 15-13.
“It was an intense match. We started out slow, but then picked up the pace in sets two and three,” said Lady Eagle head coach Erica Garza.
“We pulled it out in the end against a tough opponent. We’ll continue working hard to improve on our errors.”
The Lady Eagles were led at the net by Ryan Grayson with seven kills on the night. Madi Garza and Randi Arrisola each contributed with five kills. Sarah Hunter also chipped in with one kill.
Defense was also a key for the Lady Eagles. Madi Garza, Grayson and Tori Arrisola all put down two Kenedy hits for blocks. Madi Garza led the Pettus team in digs with five. Chloe Garza and Destiny Carrillo each helped out with four digs. Amanda Escandon contributed three digs.
Chloe Garza set up her teammates with 10 assists. Hunter added nine assists.
The Lady Eagles paid a visit to the fighting Redfish from Austwell-Tivoli on Tuesday night and they will host the Nordheim Lady Pirates on Friday night.
