Shannon learned of her acceptance into this year’s competition when the pageant announced their selections on Monday afternoon. She had previously submitted an application and taken part in an interview session that was conducted by this year’s San Antonio pageant coordinator.
In the San Antonio pageant, Shannon will be competing for her share of thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts that will be distributed to contestants. She will be in the Miss Jr. Pre-Teen division, one of four divisions composed of young ladies between the ages of 7 and 19 competing in modeling routines, which include casual and formal wear. Most importantly, Shannon will display her personality and interviewing skills while being interviewed with this year’s San Antonio judging panel. Personality is the number one aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition.
The winner of the Miss Jr. Pre-Teen San Antonio title will represent San Antonio and the surrounding communities at the national competition that will take place in Orlando, Fla. More than $60,000 in prizes and awards will be presented at the national competition, while each contestant enjoys this expense-paid trip of five nights and six days in Orlando.
Community businesses, organizations and private individuals will assist Shannon in participating in this year’s competition by becoming her official sponsor.
Shannon is the daughter of Clint and Charlie Gabbert of Skidmore and the granddaughter of Dean and Linda Gabbert of Skidmore and Mary Lou Hill of Corpus Christi.
