Typical characteristics of a Gifted and Talented student include expression through oral means as well as written means, curiosity about how things work and are made, creativity in more than one area, questioning of reasons, leadership abilities, good character, sense of humor, persistence until job is accomplished, an adventurous spirit, ability to see things and ideas in new and different ways, enjoyment of being mentally challenged, the ability to be a quick thinker, ability to organize and a consistent high level performance in school. Students nominated should demonstrate a majority of these characteristics.
Nominations may be made by a parent, teacher or anyone with knowledge of the nominee’s abilities. Testing of those nominated for the Gifted and Talented program will begin after Nov. 7.
