There will be four different clinic components (Stock Horse Trail, Pleasure, Reining and Working Cow Horse). Participants will work through each these classes with SHOT clinicians in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. This clinic will feature live cattle, trail obstacles, and review of basic and advanced maneuvers in reining, pleasure, cow work and trail. The goal of the clinic is to create better horses and riders using the practical skills and training required in every day ranch work.
No prior SHOT experience is necessary – this clinic is designed to help riders of all levels get their horses more “broke” through direct individual feedback from stock horse experts.
SHOT promotes the concept of the versatile stock horse; a horse that can handle a variety of situations with ease and athleticism, using natural movement and an attitude that reflects the ranch-type influence of the everyday stock horse.
The SHOT program is designed for riders of all experiences to learn and compete in an environment that is friendly, affordable and designed to fit all levels of riding. Celebrating 15 years of promoting the versatile stock horse, the SHOT mission continues: “Helping People Ride a Better Horse.”
Registration for the clinic will be $75 for members and $100 for non-members. Stalls and RV hook-ups are available on site, and a negative Coggins Test will be required for all horses. To register call the Bee County AgriLife Extension office at 362-3281.
