REFUGIO – The last day to file to run for a position on the ballot in the May 12 local elections was Monday.

Town of Refugio

Council places three, four and five are up for election. Incumbent Councilman Ron Nelson did not file for his place three position.

Incumbents Frank J. Hosey, and Wanda H. Dukes both filed.

Leonard “Lenny” Anzaldua and Bart Wales have both filed for Nelson’s place three seat; Frank J. Hosey does not have an opponent for place 4; and inclumbent Wanda H. Dukes is being challenged by Dale Skrobarcek for place five.

Town of Woodsboro

Incumbents are Minerva Cisneros, place 3, Elix Ortiz, place 4, and Jimmy Blaschke, place 5.

All the incumbents have filed and one - Elix Ortiz is being challenged by Carl Arnold for place 4.

Town of Bayside

Incumbents are Mayor Ken Dahl; council members Robert Moreno, place 2, and Janet Christensen, place 3.

All incumbents have filed except Robert Moreno. Ned Aberly and Frank Briseno have both filed for place 2 previously held by Moreno.

Town of Austwell

Incumbents up for election are Mayor David Cann.

Mayor David Cann has filed for Mayor and Nadine Garner for commissioner. Neither has an opponent.

Refugio ISD Board

Incumbents up for election are Rene Garcia, single member district 2 and Dr. Gary Wright, single member district 4.

Garcia is being challenged by Monica Y. Flores for place 2 and Jennifer Perez-Lara will face off with Dr. Gary Wright for place 4.

Woodsboro ISD Board

Incumbents up for election are Mandy Haertig Nixon, place 3, Henry “Frito” Fierova, place 4, and Jeff Gillespie, place 5. All the incumbents have filed.

Austwell-Tivoli ISD Board

Incumbents up for election are Angela Yaklin Lutz, place 1 and Chris Camacho, place 2. All the incumbents have filed.

Refugio Hospital District

Incumbents are Art Loya, place 1, Clifton Pfeil, place 2, Glen Naylor, place 3, and Sandra Ermis, place 4. All the incumbents have filed.

Water Control & Improvement District No. 1

Directors are Richard Sessions, Jamie Gonzales, Carroll C. Edge, Arthur Summers Jr, and Lavenia Diaz.

Water Control Improvement District No. 2

Directors are O.G. Randle, Gerald Morgan, and Richard W. Piwetz.
