The Pettus girls are 3-3 in district play so far this year.
“The three wins in district are the most in a long time. I can see the confidence the girls are getting, and they are running the bases really well,” said Pettus head coach Noel Lopez.
The Lady Eagles batted around in the bottom of the first after setting the visitors down in the top half of the inning 1-2-3. All three of the outs were on soft liners and scoring the plays would have been a symmetrical F-4, F-5 and F-6, an unusual start to a game.
The Lady Eagles put up nine runs in the home half of the first to take control of the contest. Runge scores two runs in the second and managed to plate three more runners before the contest came to an end. The Lady Eagles scored six more runs later in the ball game to capture the easy 15-6 victory.
Hitting highlights for the Pettus girls included an inside-the-park home run off the bat of Tristian Moore. Hailee Schauer had a great defensive game at second, according to the Lady Eagle coaches.
“The girls are playing better every game. We play Kenedy on Friday and it’s a must win,” said Lopez.
On Tuesday night, the Lady Eagles will host the Falls City Beaverettes.
