The win keeps the S-T varsity undefeated at 4-0 in district and gets them to 18-9 on the season.
“In this big district game, the girls did an excellent job on both ends of the court throughout the whole game,” said Lady Cat head coach Joseph Grimes III.
It was a one-point ball game, 21-20, at the end of the first half, but the home team stepped up its defense and held the Lady Bulldogs to just 13 second half points. The Lady Cats hit for 16 in the third period alone and tacked on another nine in the final stanza to earn the victory.
Rachel Mengers hit for 15 to lead the S-T scoring. Alexis Schmidt was also in double figures with 10. Schmidt also dealt out a team-high seven assists. Devon Wilder followed with seven points. D’Anne Wilder had six markers while Ashley Scott hit five and came up with six steals. Courtney Vandever closed out the S-T scoring with three on a jumper from beyond the arc.
In the JV contest, the S-T girls captured a 35-23 victory over the young Lady Bulldogs.
