District Judge Joel Johnson appointed new grand jury members earlier this month.
Those named to sit on the panel for the next six months are John Anthony Ramirez, Guadalupe De La Peña Brown, Mary Flora Noel, John Treviño, Fatima Garza Pollard, Ann Elizabeth Allard, Noemi Yolanda Treviño, Paul A. McCrea, Ernest Davis, Andrea Watkins Westmoreland, Bennie H. Muñoz, Carolyn Torres Almeida, Ashley Nicole Gamel and Adan Perez.
Grand jurors are appointed every six months in January and July and they usually meet monthly to hear evidence that prosecutors have acquired regarding felony cases.
A grand jury indictment does not indicate guilt or innocence. It only means that the jurors believe the prosecution has obtained enough evidence against a suspected felon to warrant sending the case to a district court judge or a jury for trial.
