The top four finishers in each event advance to the area meet that was held on April 13-14 in Woodsboro.
In the girls’ triple jump, Lady Eagle Anna Elder won gold with a leap of 31-10. It was a 1-2 Pettus sweep in the long jump as Elder claimed first with a jump of 16-0 and Chloe Garza was second at 15-6.
The Lady Eagles did well in the 3,200-meter event with another 1-2 finish. Savannah Delbosque was first with a time of 13:07.40 while Celeste Sims placed second at 14:21.02.
In the 800-meter run, Lady Eagle Miranda Arrisola placed third with a time of 2:8.68. Ana Torres picked up fourth place points in 2:43.49.
Chloe Garza ran the fastest 100-meter dash of the day with a gold medal effort of 12.56.
The 400-meter duo of Elder (1:02.99) and Tristian Moore (1:04.36) gave the Lady Eagles another 1-2 sweep. Chloe Garza placed first in the tough 300-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 48.22.
Elder won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.75 while Moore placed fifth in 28.56. In the metric mile, or 1,600-meter run, the Lady Eagles took three of the top four spots. Delbosque won the event with a time of 5:59.18. Arrisola was third in 6:18.34 and Sims placed fourth at 6:31.24.
The Lady Eagles also did well in the relay events. In the 4x400-meter relay, Moore, Garza, Torres and Elder placed second with a time of 4:16.44.
On the boys’ side of the meet, Eagle Josh Herrera placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 36-9.75. Casey Jones placed third in the long jump with a jump of 20-01.
In the 800-meter run, Silvestre Sanchez captured third place points for the Eagles with a time of 2:08.45. Jones came back and won the 400-meter event with a blistering 51.11. Jones finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in 23.00.
Sanchez placed second in the 1,600-meter run for the Eagles with a time of 4:57.43. In the 4x400-meter relay, the Eagle team of John Constante, Sanchez, Joe Benavides and Jones captured fourth place with a time of 3:38.96.
