Local author’s book receives prestigious nomination

Dorothy Schwartz of Beeville, aka Dot Ryan, a talented, first-time author of a historical romance novel titled “Corrigan’s Pool,” has been nominated as a finalist in the prestigious Book of the Year Awards presented by ForeWord Reviews.

The nominated book is a second, revised printing of “Corrigan’s Pool,” the original of which was published in 2009 and was also an award winner. The new edition was published in 2011 by Checkered Swan Publishing under a new ISBN number with an additional chapter plus other minor revisions.

Mrs. Schwartz is the wife of Sam Schwartz, whose 40-year career in law enforcement includes chief of police in Sinton from 1982 to 1990. She was raised in Skidmore and Beeville, where she and her husband have now lived since 2010 while enjoying their retirement years.
