Mr. Arms was born April 19, 1939, in Lampasas, to Charles William “J.D.” and Vastine Lynch Arms. He married Sydney Aline McMahan in Mexico on Aug. 31, 1955, and was an oil field worker. He was a member of the Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on May 10, 1992; a son, Charles William Arms Jr.; a grandson, Charles William Arms III; a sister, Nelda Sue Foshion; brothers, Bobby Lee Arms, Marvin Gene Arms and Donald Gene Arms.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie (James) O’Brien of Beeville; a son, Jesse (Linda) Arms of Beeville; three grandchildren, Charles Walsh, Darla Walsh Cortez and Jessica Arms; numerous great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jimmy Ray (Torc) Arms of New Mexico; Wesley (Glenda) Arms and Mickey Arms, both of Lampasas; eight sisters, Joyce Heiney, Patsy Dunlap and Nancy (Albert) Linsey, all of Lampasas, Donna Daniel (Gene) of Knoxville, Tenn., Laura Arms of Cedar Park, Betty Ackerman of Splendora, Jannetta (Richard) Kattner of Copperas Cove and Rose Mary (Terry) Smith of Belton.
Visitation was held Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home chapel.
The funeral service was conducted there at 1 p.m. following visitation with Rev. Greg Traylor officiating. Musical selections included “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wesley Arms, Charles Kattner, Johnathan Amlong, Rocky Wolfe, Charles Walsh and James “Bud” O’Brien.
