The Coastal Bend College basketball program is paying big dividends to the student/athletes playing for the Cougars. Three sophomores recently signed to continue their basketball careers at four-year institutes of higher learning. Those signing letters of intent last week include, from left, Charles Mells with Arkansas State, Phadarius Taylor with UT-Permian Basin and David Atkinson with Salem University in West Virginia. Joining the three are head coach Larry Mendez (left) and assistant coach Colt Walker. Mells wanted to express his appreciation for all the support he has received from his mother, Juanita Mells from Miami, Fla.
