Nance Beasley Jr., 93, died Friday, April 20, 2012.

Mr. Beasley was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Beeville to Nance and Susie Mae Beasley. He was one of eight children and married Aggie Rae Roy of Beeville in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII from 1942-1945 and was stationed in Italy. He served with the Buffalo Division’s 15th Cavalry. During that time, he also traveled Northern Italy playing baseball for the military. He worked at Hancock Golf in Austin and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed a good game of dominoes and was a longtime member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Beeville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his children, Nancy Brown of Austin, Lawrence “Bubba” Beasley of Beeville, Jeffery Scott Beasley of Los Angeles, Calif., Darryl (Deena) Beasley of Austin and Mark Dana Beasley of Austin; stepdaughter, Shirley Jefferson; Harriett Beasley; grandchildren, Veronica, Monica, Craig, Jay, Farrah, Bryan, Alyssa, Madison and Sydney; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held Monday, April 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.

The funeral service was conducted there Tuesday morning, April 24, at 10 o’clock. Burial with full military honors followed in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
