“We are very proud of our athletes. They performed to the best of their abilities to advance to the regional meet,” said track coach Erica Garza.

Varsity girls results
Lady Eagle Anna Elder captured the gold medal in the triple jump with a leap of 32-8.5. Chloe Garza was first in the long jump with a 17-foot effort, and Elder placed third with a jump of 15-9.
In the 3,200-meter run, Pettus’ Savannah Delbosque captured the gold medal and first place with a time of 13:03.14 almost a full minute ahead of her nearest competitor.
The 100-meter dash belonged to Garza with a first place time of 12.41. Garza was also first in the 300-meter hurdles with a good time of 47.22.
Elder was the first girl across the finish line in the 200-meter dash with a good time of 26.46. Delbosque doubled up in her gold medal wins with a top finish in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:55.17.
The Lady Eagle foursome of Tristian Moore, Garza, Delbosque and Elder placed third in the 4x400-meter relay event. in Woodsboro.
The varsity girls team finished second in the area meet with 118 points. Falls City was first with 196 points, and McMullen County was third overall with 59 in the 19-team field.
Varsity boys results
Eagle Casey Jones placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 20-8. Jones won the 400-meter dash at the area meet with a time of 52.93.Silvestre Sanchez placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.96.
Sanchez placed fourth in the 1,600-meter event with a time of 4:57.80. In the 4x400-meter relay, the Eagles team of John Constante, Sanchez, Joe Benavides and Jones finished fifth with a time of 3:40.96.
The Pettus boys finished ninth overall as Yorktown captured the team title with 135 points. Falls City was second with 77 points and Ben Bolt was third at 71 points. It was a big field of 18 schools entered at the area meet.
The Region IV meet will be held at Converse Judson on April 27-28.
