S-T track captures second in district

BISHOP – The Skidmore-Tynan varsity boys track team finished second overall to District 31-2A champion Refugio at last week’s track meet and had several good individual performances that will advance several Bobcats to the Region IV meet at Converse Judson at the end of this week.

The top four finishers in each event advance to the Region IV meet.

Varsity boys results

Bobcat Jeremy Byrd was fourth in the triple jump. Tomas Moore also placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles. Sonny Hernandez was fifth across the finish line in the 100-meter dash. Zeke Huerta was sixth in the 400-meter dash, while teammate Ryan Scot placed fourth in the same event.

Moore placed sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. Brody Longmire was third in third shot put to qualify for the Region IV meet. Erasmo Huerta was second in the triple jump, and Jonathan Hernandez was second in the 3,200-meter run.

The sprint relay squad of Sonny Hernandez, Jeremy Byrd, Kyle Nelson and Andrew Casarez was second at the district meet. The 800-meter relay team of Sonny Hernandez, Byrd, Zeke Huerta and Nelson placed second.

Byrd was third in the 200-meter dash, while teammate Jonathan Hernandez ran to a third place spot in the 1,600-meter run. Erasmo Huerta was second in the 1,600 meters. The mile relay team of Ryan Scott, Zeke Huerta, Andrew Casarez and Erasmo Huerta placed third at district and will also advance to the Region IV meet.
