Mrs. Benitez was born on Sept. 15, 1935, in Kingsville to Ramon Perez and Luisa Hinojosa. She was retired from the Port Isabel Independent School District as a special education teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Octavio, Enrique, Ramon and Beto Perez.
Survivors include her husband, Tony Benitez of Kingsville; two sons, Roberto Benitez of Dallas and Alberto Benitez of Austin; a daughter, Linda Luisa Benitez Garcia of Kingsville; and six grand-children.
Visitation was held Thursday, May 3, at Treviño Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m.
A graveside service was conducted Friday morning, May 4, at 9:30 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
