Contestants sought for Miss Diez y Seis pageant

BEEVILLE – The Fiesta Bee County Pageant Committee is currently signing up girls interested in participating in the 29th annual Mexican Cultural Pageant set for Sept. 8 in the Gertrude R. Russell Jones Auditorium of Coastal Bend College.

The competition is open to girls who reside, attend school or have graduated in Bee, Live Oak, Refugio, Goliad and San Patricio counties. The three categories of the pageant include: Little Miss Division (ages 7-9), Junior Miss Division (ages 10-13) and the Miss Diez y Seis Division (ages 14-18) and a Tiny Miss Division (ages 4-6).

The entry fee is $175 for the first three categories. Fee for the Tiny Miss Division is $75 – they will not be competing. For more information, contact Judy Bowen at 362-7463.

The girls will be competing for scholarships from Coastal Bend College in the amount of $2,000 for queen and $500 for the first runner-up. Additional scholarships will be given by Fiesta Bee County.

The girls will be learning an individual dance from a state in Mexico, and the Tinies will do a group dance.
