156th Judicial District Attorney Martha Warner, who is beginning her second four-year term, has been elected to serve as a regional director for the Texas District and County Attorneys Association (TDCAA). She will be representing 30 South Texas counties.

TDCAA is a nonprofit organization created in 1905 serving Texas prosecutors and attorneys in government representation. TDCAA serves the people who work in the district and county attorneys offices around the state by: (1) producing comprehensive continuing legal education courses for prosecutors, their investigators and key personnel; (2) providing technical assistance to the prosecution community and related criminal justice agencies; and (3) serving as a liaison between prosecutor and other organizations in the day-to-day administration of criminal justice.

Warner also will serve on the board of trustees of the TDCAA Foundation which is 501(c)(3) Education Foundation created in 2006 that supports the training mission of TDCAA. Warner said, “I was very honored to be asked by my peers to run for this position. The TDCAA is a great organization that has helped me for years. Networking among prosecutors is an invaluable tool for rural prosecutors and TDCAA offers all Texas prosecutors many resources.”

In 2005, Warner was elected to serve on the executive board of directors for the Special Prosecution Unit which oversees the prosecution of crimes committed within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

She was re-elected for another two-year term in November 2008, at the Elected Prosecutors Annual Meeting. This board was given additional authority in 2007 concerning Texas Youth Commission facilities to ensure that cases occurring within TYC facilities are handled in a proper and timely fashion.
