Hunter Hardy, an A.C. Jones High School junior, was the winner of a plaque and $100 at the Educational Awards Ceremony on May 8.

Natalie Arispe of the Poetry Café of Beeville announced that Hunter’s poetry sent a wholesome and beautiful message, winning him the award for Best Content of the poetry contest given by the Poetry Café. This is the second year for the poetry contest, and all participants will be published in a book of high school poetry to be presented to the A.C. Jones library for the reference section.

A total of 46 students submitted 59 poems for the contest. Hunter’s winning poem can be read on the Bee-Picayune’s website at www.mySouTex.com.
