Mr. Moreno was born in Edroy and raised in Mathis. He was a truck driver for numerous years and was self employed, owning several trucks. He was a pastor for 27 years at Templo Ebenezer and for 12 of those years was the president of Evangelical Assemblies Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Espiridio Moreno and Louisa Sepulveda; a son, Ernesto Moreno; sisters and brothers, Petra Dominguez, Elvira Gonzalez, Jenoveva Moreno, Felisita Ruiz Cabano, Miguel Moreno, Eleno Moreno and Espiridio Moreno Jr.; and sons-in-law, Ovidio Biscarro and Rene Anaya.
Survivors include his wife, Carmen Moreno of Alice; his children, Valentin (Alma) Moreno Jr., Valtazar (Dolores) Moreno and Gloria (Earl) Cole, all of Mathis, Ruben (Rosie) Medina, Gloria (Jose) Jasso, Sylvia Medina, Norma (Manuel) Ramos, Mary Biscarro and Diana Medina, all of Alice, Diana (Dr. William) Flores of Flour Bluff, Delia (Ysidro) Villarreal of Kingsville and Sylvia (Juan) Falcon of Nacogdoches; a sister, Zimona Zamora of Mathis; a brother, Modesto (Rebecca) Moreno of Beeville; 33 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Wednesday, May 30, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, with a prayer service at 7 o’clock.
The funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at Templo Ebenezer. Burial followed at the Alice Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Rosas Funeral Home, Alice.
