Puppet show

Save the date: On Saturday, June 9, a Spy-A-Book puppet show will be held. Julian Franklin will perform “Top Secret” at 2 p.m. Come and receive your very own Secret Agent I.D. card with a list of your training objectives. All ages are invited.

Teens only

60 Second Showdown will be Thursday, June 7, at 6 p.m. Experience the excitement of beating the clock.

A teen craft will be held Monday, June 25, at 10 a.m. Bring your friends and make art out of books with a creative book folder.

“Murder in the Library” program will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25.

Earning By Learning

Read an AR book, pass the test and earn up to $200! Testing starts Monday, June 11, and ends Saturday, July 21.

In order for a child to participate, a parent or responsible party must attend an orientation session and bring children’s library cards. Children do not need to attend. Registration will follow after orientation.

To register, a child must also attend one of the star testing dates. Star testing will be done before testing on books. Each participant must have his own library card, and all family members must be free of library obligations.

Other orientation dates available include Wednesday, June 6, at 4 p.m.; Saturday, June 9, at 11 a.m.; and Saturday, June 16, at 11 a.m.

Circus read

Reading with Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus — Read five books, get your card stamped and receive a voucher to the circus. This voucher is good for one free child’s ticket when an adult ticket is purchased. This program is for ages 2-12 years.

This ticket will be good at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi June 15-17. If any questions, call 362-4901.

Game On

The library is sponsoring a new program based on the book The Game On Diet, open to all 16 years of age and older.

The goal of this competition (like the book) is to encourage health and an attitude that will allow you to accomplish your goal of a healthy weight loss, toning up or just getting up off the couch for the first time in three years.

Game 1 will be June 18 - July 16. Game 2 will be held July 18 - Aug. 15.

Story times

Adventure Storytime begins June 5 and will run through Aug. 2 every Tuesday and Thursday. Join the group for an hours of fun, crafts, stories and snacks. Meet at the library and join the musical parade to the Beeville Community Center.

Also, regular Storytime Summer Fun started June 2 and is held Fridays at 10 a.m.

Reading

Overdrive is a free eBook program accessible to JBBC library patrons in good standing. Bring a valid library card and learn about the program, how to set up your eReader with it and downloads books onto your device. Kindles also are now compatible.

Monday and Wednesday: 9-6; Tuesday and Thursday: 9-9; Friday and Saturday: 9-5.
