I am deeply saddened to hear the news about Mr. (Scott) Jones’ passing Wednesday morning.

I had the honor and the pleasure of volunteering alongside Mr. Jones for four years during Beeville’s Friday night football games from 2006-2010, and he was truly an inspiration to our community and to the education field.

A beautiful soul and a believer in people, I’m proud to have known him and, better yet, call him my friend. I may never have sat in a classroom with him at the helm, but I was truly a student of this wonderful teacher and leader who inspired so many of the youth in our community. We were blessed to have him for as long as we did, and heaven will be blessed as the Good Lord welcomes him home. Fly to the angels, my friend, as your flag will forever be waving in our hearts.
