BEEVILLE – Has anyone ever said that your singing sounds like a cat caught in a vacuum cleaner? Or that you should sue your singing teacher? Well, now’s your chance to prove them wrong. The second annual “Bee ’N Idol” competition is returning to Beeville July 14 at the Fusion Music Fest at the Bee County Expo Center Pavilion.

The Fusion Music Fest is a family-friendly event meant to attract a diverse crowd with its wide array of country, Tejano, jazz and rock bands that will be performing throughout the night. “Bee ’N Idol” is Beeville’s version of the American Idol television singing competition and will be taking place during the music festival.

The “Bee ’N Idol” event is looking for men and women, boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 years of age from Bee County. The auditions kick off Wednesday, June 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Kicker 106 offices in Beeville. Anyone needing a little more time to polish their pipes can wait until the second audition on Wednesday, June 27, at the same time and location.

For the auditions, future melody makers can bring in any song they wish to sing or they can contact Roberto Cisneros at 319-0864, who can provide a wide variety of music. There is a $20 entry fee, and applications can be picked up at Kicker 106 or downloaded at www.fusionmusicfest.com. Those finalists who make the cut will be notified by June 29.

The 10 finalists will perform at the Fusion Music Fest with the best vocalist being crowned by a panel of judges, including guest celebrity judge, Machy De La Garza, singer and guitarist for the band La Conquista. De La Garza is also the director at the Musical Minds Academy talent agency, which recruits young and upcoming talent from all over the world.

The first place winner will receive studio time at ZMJ recording studios to cut three songs, a professional photo shoot and an appearance on Domingo Live. Other prizes for runners-up will be announced at a later date.
