The library has several healthy activities and informative presentations that the public is invited to attend free of charge. Just show your library card to gain admittance to any event besides the Zombie Walk and Game On competition. If you don’t have a card, come by the library with your Texas ID and get a library card for free.
Next week (June 19), Georgiana Bradshaw, director of the Corpus Christi Food Bank-Diabetic Program, will be at the library to discuss nutrition information for diabetics. She will help those present make better, healthier selections at the grocery store. Kristi Rowlett, Tai Chi instructor, will lead 30-minute Tai Chi classes every Wednesday at the library from June 20-Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. The library will close as usual at 6 p.m. so get there early to stay inside for the class.
CBC students will measure blood pressure every Monday from 1-2 p.m. in Room U101 of the Petroleum Building in the back parking lot at Coastal Bend College.
The library is also planning karate clinics and Parkour clinics as well. A Zombie Walk will be held at the Rio 6 Cinemas.
In late July, musicians and non-musicians alike are invited to attend a two-day event, brought to you by Stephanie Phillips, composer/improvisation teacher, at the CBC auditorium. Phillips will show how to improvise music and perform her recent work for non-musicians. This event will be filmed and put on YouTube.
The end of the first week of Earning by Learning is approaching. Here are some schedule changes:
Starting Thursday, June 21, EBL testing will be closed from 5:30-6:30 p.m. so readers, parents and staff can refresh themselves and come back ready to test again. Also, registration is extending for this program. Parents can take an online orientation from June 17-June 30 now. Print the certificate of completion and take it to the EBL staff to register your child(ren).
