BEEVILLE — The Beeville Little League has at least two teams of all-stars continuing on in the postseason playoffs. The Minor boys and the Major girls both won District 29 championships and will advance to their respective sectional tournaments that began this weekend.

The Minor boys captured two straight games over Aransas Pass to earn their way to the sectional tournament. The Beeville boys will not have to travel, as the sectional tournament is being hosted by the Beeville Little League. Four teams from South Texas are involved, with the District 29 champion (Beeville) meeting the District 31 representative on Friday night in the tournament’s opener at 6 p.m. In the nightcap on Friday, the teams from District 18 and District 27 will collide.

Winners from those two contests will meet on Saturday at 8 p.m. in a winner’s bracket game. The tournament’s finale will be on Monday, if all goes according to plan, or possibly on Tuesday night in the double elimination format.

The Major girls used a 5-0 shutout from pitcher Kailey Perez to down Rockport in the championship contest in the Orange Grove District 29 tournament. Perez also blasted a home run to help her own cause in the win

The Major girls traveled to New Braunfels for the sectional tournament where they were to meet the District 31 champion at 6 p.m. Friday. Times for the Saturday match-ups are to be determined if they win or lose that first game. Districts 18 and 27 make up the other bracket in the Major girls tourney.
