While these names sound a little funny and cute, make sure you don’t let the little guys know it, or you’re bound to get a tiny elbow to your face.
These are the names of Extreme Midget Wrestling’s superstars, and they’re flying across the ring and off the top ropes for your viewing pleasure.
The EMW Federation has been touring the country since 2000 and wrestlers have body slammed and suplexed each other in front of as many as 1,500 fans.
The event is being held Saturday, July 14, at Vick’s Place, 7136 FM 666 in Mathis, at 7 p.m., and tickets are still available.
When the federation came calling to Vick’s Place, it was event coordinator Mary Freitag that answered the phone call.
“They called us and asked if we would host the event,” Freitag laughed.
“I’m only 5 foot, so I said, ‘You’re not funny.’
“But the voice said, ‘No ma’am, we’re actually serious.’ So, we decided to host it.”
According to the federation’s website, the show is broken into five extreme midget matches of crazy non-stop midget violence.
Midgets jump off the ropes and hit each other with props such as staple guns, tacks and trash cans.
They also take it out of the ring as well, wrestling on the bars and in the crowd.
And throughout the brawl, they incorporate little people games such as a kiss-the-midget contest and a lap dance contest.
The website also states that the action is more than just a novelty show and that the fight tactics of these four-foot-four wrestlers is no different than those of World Wrestling Entertainment’s biggest stars like The Rock or Hulk Hogan.
Fans are also encouraged to stick around after the smackdown for a meet and greet with the tiny tumblers and get autographs and pictures taken with the wrestlers.
Freitag is expecting a huge crowd. “I’m excited about the whole thing,” she said.
“We are expecting about 200-300 people, so we had to move it outside just make sure we fit everyone in.”
The federation’s promoter claims, “You may think you know midget wrestling, but you haven’t seen the way EMW does midget wrestling.”
After the show, there will be a special performance by The Pear Ratz, which is free with the purchase of a wrestling ticket.
Freitag said, “We’re really excited, and we just hope everybody has a great time.”
