Voting and forums

Candidate forums and debates have been valuable to me in evaluating candidates. I can see how they handle themselves when presented with difficult questions and how effective they are in articulating their message. We all saw that Rick Perry did not perform well in debates.

Local, state and congressional candidates participated in forums and debates in April and May in Beeville. Adela Garza, a candidate for Congress, agreed to participate, but sent her excuses at the last minute.

She also canceled a forum in Cuero last Saturday. This seems to be a pattern. Ms. Garza has asked for my vote and I have no real idea where she stands on the issues that matter to me. I have no idea how she will perform against an opponent in November. How will she perform in Congress? Will she be effective?

We have had a representative, Ruben Hinojosa, who refused to speak to his constituents in Beeville. Why should I vote for a candidate who avoids tough venues?
