The Indians and Trojans battled to a 2-2 tie over the first 40 minutes with the Trojans getting goals from Matt Perez and Lonnie Jordan. Trojans assisting on the scores were Jamie Eide and Zach Johnson.
The second half went to the Indians but the Trojans had their chances. Shots on goal were fairly even but the ball did not bounce kindly for the Trojans. Shots just wide, just high and into the cross bar negated any chance of hitting the back of the net. Harlandale got two kicks past keeper Artie Martinez, shots where the Beeville keeper really did not have much of a chance to stop the attempts.
Defensively, the Trojans played well with Cory Fish and Eide stopping several Harlandale attacks throughout the contest.
“The team is out-hustling our opponents. We are starting to come together and trust our abilities. Assistant coach Julie Blackwell did a great job with the team,” said Trojan head coach Justin Soza.
The Trojans were back in San Antonio on Tuesday night to play the McCollum Cowboys. On Friday, the Trojans will host the Floresville Tigers at 7 p.m. The JV boys will meet in the first game at 5:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
