The Coastal Bend Community Foundation of Corpus Christi presented the Good Samaritan Ministries of Refugio County with a $5,000 grant. The grant will be used to purchase food items for senior citizens and the less fortunate of Refugio County.

The Good Samaritan distributes food and clothing to senior citizens on the first and third Mondays of each month and on every Tuesday and Thursday to persons in need from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Volunteers from numerous churches help with the administrative duties and distribution of food and clothing.

“All of the volunteers are deeply grateful to the Coastal Bend Community Foundation for this grant so that we can continue our task of assisting the less fortunate in our communities,” said Jim Henke, president. “We also appreciate the many individuals and organization who have so willingly donated food and money to support our cause. Your generosity has been outstanding.”
